1. VeChain (VET): A Product Tracker Priced at $0.008235

VeChain is a Layer 1 blockchain founded by Sunny Lu in 2015. It began by linking NFC chips and QR codes to products. Firms could then prove where an item came from. The mainnet went live in June 2018.

  • Current Price: $0.008235

  • Market cap: $708.13M

  • 24H volume: $11.71M

Features: VET handles staking, while a second token, VTHO, pays gas fees. Apps can also pay fees for their users, so a newcomer needs no VTHO to start.

Investor note: The price sits about 97% below the April 2021 peak of $0.2782. Daily volume is only about 1.65% of market cap, so exits may be slower.

2. XDC Network (XDC): Trade Finance on an EVM Chain

XDC Network targets trade finance and tokenized real-world assets. XinFin, a Singapore fintech firm, launched it. Ritesh Kakkad and Atul Khekade founded XinFin in 2017. The mainnet followed in 2019, and XDC 2.0 landed in Q4 2024.

Features: Delegated proof of stake gives fast transaction times. Subnets let banks or firms run private side chains that borrow the main network's security.

Investor note: Only 21.48B of the 38.09B total XDC circulates, about 56%. A 0.49% daily dip made it the calmest chart of the five.

3. Midnight (NIGHT): The Only Green Week in This Group

Midnight is a privacy blockchain developed by Charles Hoskinson, the Ethereum co-founder who also started Cardano. It uses zero-knowledge proofs. These let someone prove a fact without showing the data behind it.

  • Current Price: $0.04943

  • Market cap: $821.06M

  • 24H volume: $33.04M

Features: NIGHT is the utility token. DUST is a non-transferable resource that pays for shielded transactions. Developers write contracts in TypeScript.

Investor note: This is cheap crypto under $1 worth watching for its swings. It gained 49.90% in seven days. Yet it sits about 97% under its December 2025 peak of $1.81, and only about 3 times above its July 2026 low of $0.01582.

4. Plasma (XPL): Zero-Fee Dollar Transfers on a Fresh Chain

Plasma is a Layer 1 chain built for stablecoin payments. Its headline promise is zero-fee USD₮ transfers, and custom gas tokens are part of the design.

  • Current Price: $0.08733

  • Market cap: $395.92M

  • 24H volume: $79.96M

Features: Total supply is 10B XPL, with 4.53B in circulation today. The project calls itself the native chain for stablecoin payments.

Investor note: Plasma has the smallest market cap here and the deepest weekly drop at 9.22%. The price is about 95% under the $1.68 high set on September 28, 2025.

5. Pepe (PEPE): A Frog Meme With 413.77 Trillion Tokens

Pepe is a deflationary meme coin on Ethereum. It is a tribute to Matt Furie's Pepe the Frog. It carries no tax and openly claims no utility. Its founders remain anonymous.

  • Current Price: $0.000004096

  • Market cap: $1.69B

  • 24H volume: $205.94M

Features: All 413.77T tokens already circulate, and more than 600,000 wallets hold PEPE.

Investor note: With no product behind it, the price follows a crowd mood. It is about 85% below the December 2024 high of $0.00002825.

Why a Low Price Does Not Mean a Cheap Coin

Pepe has the lowest price here and the largest market cap at $1.69B. Plasma costs far more per coin yet is the smallest at $395.92M. Market cap, not price per coin, shows how big a project really is.

The $1 mark makes the gap clearer. Plasma needs about 11 times its price to reach it. Midnight needs about 20 times, XDC about 30 times and VeChain about 121 times. At $1, VeChain would carry a market cap near $86B. Pepe would need around 244,000 times.

A cautious analyst would add one more filter: volume as a share of market cap. Plasma trades about 20% of its size in a day and Pepe about 12%. VeChain trades under 2%. Higher ratios usually mean easier exits. For anyone building a best crypto to buy under $1 list, that ratio matters as much as the price.
