Supra Testnet Expands With New MultiVM Support
Supra, a platform that helps build smart contracts (computer programs that run automatically) using its special tools, announced today that it is opening applications for its MultiVM testnet. This announcement was made during a speech at Devconnect Buenos Aires, a big event about Web3 and technology. Jon Jones, Co-Founder and Chief Business Officer of Supra, shared this exciting news during a session talking about how different systems can work together.
This is a big step for the future of apps (called dApps) that run on blockchains. Supra is now offering a new platform where developers can work with both Ethereum (EVM) and MoveVM. The goal is to help developers create apps that can work across different systems without losing security, composability (how things fit together), or liquidity (how easy it is to buy or sell things). Supra is also adding support for SolanaVM, which will be ready next year. With this, Supra will be the first blockchain platform that can use different virtual machines (VMs) from different ecosystems.
“We built MultiVM because we believe developers should never have to choose between innovation and access,” said Jones. “Supra wants to help developers write smart contracts in different languages and run them in the same system, with the added benefit of automation and cross-chain services.”
With Supra’s MultiVM design, developers can write smart contracts in either Solidity or Move, with SolanaVM coming soon. They can also use Supra’s built-in services, like over 600 price feeds, cross-chain communication, and automation tools. This removes the old limitations that forced projects to stick to Ethereum-compatible systems and kept them from working with other ecosystems.
By bringing these different systems together, Supra’s MultiVM helps developers and users get more options. Supra wants to become a decentralized supercomputer, and their goal is to allow such systems to run programs in many different languages.
A big part of the MultiVM design is SupraEVM, a faster version of Ethereum’s Virtual Machine (EVM). SupraEVM uses SupraBTM, a tool that helps execute programs in parallel, meaning faster and more efficient performance. This allows for more transactions and faster speeds compared to other EVM-based blockchains. The best part is that developers don’t need to change their existing Solidity contracts.
SupraBTM has recently been tested and is the fastest parallel EVM executor available. Other tests show that SupraBTM outperforms other systems, especially in DeFi (Decentralized Finance) workloads. To prove this, Supra’s CEO, Joshua Tobkin, announced a $1 million public bounty challenge for any team that can improve SupraBTM’s performance by 15% or more.
“Developers often have to choose between different ecosystems. EVM developers face slow systems, while Move developers don’t have access to Ethereum’s ecosystem,” said Tobkin. “With MultiVM, Supra is breaking the walls between ecosystems. Our goal is to provide a system that lets apps grow and reach users anywhere, no matter the network. With SupraBTM, we’re showing that performance and security can go hand in hand.”
MultiVM on Supra Testnet: Now Open for Applications
To attract top developers, Supra has opened applications for a grant program. The program invites EVM developers to submit their ideas and projects to get early access to the MultiVM Testnet. This testnet is a platform that mimics real-world conditions.
The selected projects will get access to almost all of Supra’s tools, including:
Full support for both MoveVM and EVM (no changes needed for Solidity contracts)
Built-in services like oracles (tools that give price data), verifiable randomness (dVRF), and automation tools
Unified infrastructure that supports both Move and EVM environments
Compatibility with tools like Hardhat, Foundry, and Supra’s native CLI/IDE
Upcoming support for communication and automation across different environments
Supra has set aside $250,000 in grants for the best projects. The program will support up to 10 teams, with each team getting up to $25,000. The selected teams will work closely with Supra’s team to set goals, deploy smart contracts, and prepare for the full launch in early 2026.
This program is part of Supra’s efforts to build a stronger ecosystem. Supra recently launched the DevWire Hub, a portal with tutorials, tools, and updates to help developers work with Supra’s platform.
Supra also plans long-term support for more virtual machines beyond EVM and Move, with SolanaVM already in development. This is part of Supra’s broader vision of universal Web3, where developers can build apps once and reach users on any network without issues.
Accessing Supra’s MultiVM Infrastructure
Developers creating high-performance dApps in Solidity can now apply for Supra’s MultiVM Testnet and grant program. The program offers early access to Supra’s new infrastructure, engineering support, and funding for projects that are well-designed. Development teams can apply through the official application portal.
About Supra
Supra is the first chain built for Automatic DeFi (AutoFi), an automated financial system that also supports crypto AI agents. It is built on a Layer-1 blockchain, offering fast smart contracts, native price oracles, automation tools, and cross-chain messaging.
Supra’s platform helps create new AutoFi systems that can generate steady protocol revenue, reducing the need for inflationary block rewards over time. It also provides AI agents with the tools they need to run DeFi workflows automatically and securely.
